A Terminal Packaged Air Conditioner (PTAC) is a self-contained heating and cooling unit typically used in smaller areas such as residences, apartments, airports, offices. Large commercial air conditioning units consist of separate condenser and evaporator sections, usually far away from each other. A PTAC combines the components of an air conditioning unit in a single assembly, usually mounted on an exterior wall. This installation places the evaporator coil, fan and controller indoors, and the condenser coil and compressor outdoors. This allows the PTAC to efficiently maintain the optimum temperature while venting heat to the outdoor air.
For smaller spaces with external walls, such as rooms in homes, office buildings, apartment buildings or hotels, complete terminal air conditioners are more suitable options. Consisting of a self-contained unit, the PTAC brings together all the equipment required for the heat exchange process. These units are usually installed on existing exterior walls within a specially designed casing or enclosure. General integral terminal air conditioners are usually installed in wall cavities and outside the building, leaving only a fairly thin console indoors, Combined with the beautiful grille and cover, the packaged terminal air conditioner is unobtrusive and easy to see. The interior of a PTAC typically includes evaporator coils, filters, fans, and air conditioning controls. Piping, compressors, condenser coils and fans are located inside the airframe and on the outside surfaces of the unit. This allows heat to be released to the outside air while maintaining the desired temperature in the room. Terminal air conditioners typically include a grill consisting of adjustable louvers whose position ensures an efficient distribution of airflow. The control device of the unit can be installed separately on the unit, or it can be installed separately, remote control.
